Friday Night Game Notes: Oracle’s Hot Streak in AI Infrastructure 🔥

Oracle’s stock has been on a tear lately — up more than 35% in just the past month. Larry Ellison, now tied with Elon Musk as the richest person in the world, has positioned Oracle as one of the most important players in AI infrastructure. But what exactly is driving the rally? Here are three key game notes:

1. Strategic Alignment
Oracle isn’t building its own large language model (LLM). Instead, it’s staying in its lane, providing the infrastructure that everyone else needs. That neutrality has made them attractive to big AI players. OpenAI reportedly signed a $300B deal with Oracle, and looks like Meta is following with a $20B partnership. The play is simple: most enterprise data already lives on Oracle databases. By partnering with LLMs, Oracle can help companies like JPMorgan build custom AI models trained on private data they already manage.

2. Technical Edge
Oracle has invested heavily in GPUs and networking to argue they’re faster than competitors. Ellison claims they’re building out more data centers than all of their rivals combined. On top of that, Oracle is flexible — partnering with other cloud providers to keep its database service central to customer operations.

3. Pricing Power
Oracle is undercutting competitors with cheaper rates and offering aggressive bulk discounts for multi-year, multi-billion-dollar deals. This combination of pricing, technical strength, and strategic partnerships is fueling their momentum in the AI race.

As Oracle continues its surge, the big question is how sustainable this advantage will be as AI infrastructure demand explodes.
